Summary of the Book:

Marlena Oliveira has—mysteriously, miraculously—been given the power to heal all kinds of ailments. People around the world believe she is a saint. But her power comes at a price: she can’t go to school, she can’t have friends her own age, and she certainly can’t date.

Then she meets Finn, a boy who makes her want to fall in love. For the first time, she begins to doubt whether her gift is worth all that she must give up to keep it.

My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest reviews. I have read books like this before but not to this extent. I know that she feels like she has to live by a lot of rules and the one that seems to be the most challenging is the one to not fall in love. That is when she meets Finn and she knows that falling in love is against the rules, but who can deny the hear what it wants. There is so much going on in Marlena life and she does not even know about some it. She is healing people and believing she is doing the right this, but her mother is charging people to be healed. There is so much going on and topics touched. I don’t want to give away too much. I did enjoy reading this. Get it for yourselves. Happy reading.

Summary of the Book:

Zuri Benitez has pride. Brooklyn pride, family pride, and pride in her Afro-Latino roots. But pride might not be enough to save her rapidly gentrifying neighborhood from becoming unrecognizable.

When the wealthy Darcy family moves in across the street, Zuri wants nothing to do with their two teenage sons, even as her older sister, Janae, starts to fall for the charming Ainsley. She especially can’t stand the judgmental and arrogant Darius. Yet as Zuri and Darius are forced to find common ground, their initial dislike shifts into an unexpected understanding.

But with four wild sisters pulling her in different directions, cute boy Warren vying for her attention, and college applications hovering on the horizon, Zuri fights to find her place in Bushwick’s changing landscape, or lose it all.

My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I know this story well for my sister is a huge fan of the original and being twins she had to tell me all about it. Now this version is well done and at times made my giggle to myself. It has all the classic touches of the original story with a little flavor added in. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would it. That is a good thing. I have really been in to re-tellings and remixes of the classic stories and this is one of the better ones. Grab a copy for yourself and happy reading.

Summary of the Book:

Serena has just flown all the way to Paris for a special pre-Christmas weekend with her sister, Lara. They plan to retrace the steps of their parents’ long-ago honeymoon in Paris, and create a scrapbook for their bereaved mother to remember it by.

It’s supposed to be serious sister bonding…until Lara takes off with her boyfriend instead.

Jean-Luc is Serena’s Plan B, a friend of a friend of Lara’s, who has some space in a place where Serena can stay. Just like his latest relationship, his photography final has been an epic fail. He has one night to retake all his pictures if he is to stay in school.

Jean-Luc can’t stand Serena’s loud voice or her bright orange sneakers.

Serena can’t stand his haughty manners or the way his camera is always in her face.

Together, though, they set out into a cold night that will warm their hearts, creating unforgettable photos and fresh romantic sparks in the City of Lights.

My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I read the other book by this author and it was sweet. I got the same feeling from this book. It is a sweet and cozy story. Going from strangers to a little more on while they are on a little adventure. This one through Paris. I would not be very happy if my sister left me in some other country all by myself. I would be so mad. Serena does not let it her completely down. She is trying to follow the most romantic moments of her parents’ honeymoon. But she seems to do all right for herself and figures out the right clicks for Jean-Luc along the way. You will have to read it to find out what I am talking about. Happy reading.

How I Got the Book: ARC

Summary of the Book:

Vampire hunter Anita Blake has managed to overcome everything she faces. But this time there’s a monster that even she doesn’t know how to fight…

A remote Florida island is the perfect wedding destination for the upcoming nuptials of Anita’s fellow U.S. Marshal and best friend Edward. For Anita, the vacation is a welcome break, as it’s the first trip she gets to take with wereleopards Micah and Nathaniel. But it’s not all fun and games and bachelor parties…

In this tropical paradise Micah discovers a horrific new form of lycanthropy, one that has afflicted a single family for generations. Believed to be the result of an ancient Greek curse, it turns human bodies into a mass of snakes.

When long-simmering resentment leads to a big blowout within the wedding party, the last thing Anita needs is more drama. But it finds her anyway when women start disappearing from the hotel, and worse–her own friends and lovers are considered the prime suspects. There’s a strange power afoot that Anita has never confronted before, a force that’s rendering those around her helpless in its thrall. Unable to face it on her own, Anita is willing to accept help from even the deadliest places. Help that she will most certainly regret–if she survives at all, that is…

My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I am a huge fan of this series and I have been for a very long time. I had been wondering for a long time what this was going to be like. Ever since Edward/Ted asked Donna to marry him. I was wishing for a lot more action like in the earlier books in the series and less relationship drama. Edward is by far my favorite character. I know that is weird a paranormal/sci-fi book and I pick the human. This has been pointed out to me a few times. But all of us who have been fan know that no matter where Anita goes there is going to be some kind of trouble. There are still some questions in the series I would like answered, but maybe it is time for me to go back and re-read the books and see if there is something I missed and see if I can answer my own questions. I think it is a good read and will continue to be a fan.

How do you choose between love and duty?

My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have read and reviewed to two books that come before this one and there is another one that comes after it. I love Gwyn and Dallas. It does not matter what they are going through even when they have their doubts. There were parts that just broke my heart even through I had a good idea what was to come. I want them to be together and there is so much getting in their way. The rebels, her brother, one being a vampire and the other human, and the other contestants. It is a lot to take in. If you want to know how or if they over come it. Then you will have to grab a copy of this book.

Summary of the Book:

The Shadow Lords will return.
Sarah and David were orphaned at 2 yrs old on the same day when both Sarah’s parents and David’s parents died in a mysterious plane crash. Placed in an orphanage where they have lived a basically normal life for 12 years together, their lives are about to be suddenly and drastically changed when a confrontation with a school bully causes a frightening change in Sarah.
Transforming, out of rage, into a creature with blue skin, talons and wings begins both of their journey into a secret, fascinating world of winged people where magic is normal and myth is real…but even in this wondrous new world there are prophecies of a returning ancient evil. The Shadow Lords, whose dark magic and lust for power, can only be brought back by the blood magic of one particular pair. With the help of the Black Riders, whose goals are to free the Shadow Lords and their dark magic into the world, the prophecies are in danger of being fulfilled when it is found that it is Sarah and David’s blood they seek.
Thrown into a world where their blood is sought out for evil, there is still hope, as they are also the ones with the potential to destroy the Shadow Lords but first they must learn their own talents, magical strengths and power and they must join with five companions of their own kind before the Shadow Lords are released. They all must learn enough to lead the war against the Shadow Lords, Black Riders and their followers. Will they have the time, the skill, the strength, the power and the love to save them all?

My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I was not about how I felt about this book. I mean I have read books about similar but this book made me want to question what I know about the world. Ancient prophecies always have me wondering. I want to know where all of these prophecies are written down or who wrote them. I have to say I think that Sarah is my favorite character. I know that she goes through a lot with her friend David. They are orphaned at a young age and go into the system. They have to deal with a change in Sarah when she was trying to deal with a bully. IT changed all they knew about their world and what it lead them to that world and it’s dangers. If you want to find out what happens to them and about the prophecy you will have to read it for yourself.

Summary of the Book:

Lily has lived with her mom since her parents got divorced several years ago, and her dad has recently remarried to a woman with a daughter her age named Hannah. But now, Lily’s mom has gotten a once-in-a-lifetime work opportunity in Africa and she’ll be gone for a year, so Lily is moving in with her dad–and new stepmom and new stepsister. It’ll be as easy as apple pie, right?

Wrong. Lily promises her dad that she’ll try to get along with everyone, but she is not happy about it. Her stepmom is nice, but she’s no replacement for her real mom, and Lily feels like she barely gets any one-on-one time with her dad anymore.

The real problem, though, is Hannah. What starts out as tension between the new stepsisters becomes a full-on war, both at home and at school. Harmless pranks turn into total sabotage. Can Lily survive the year–or is her family fractured beyond repair?
